Common questions

Do I get my own phone number?

Yes. Every TapText account gets a dedicated Australian mobile number. Your customers text that number — your personal mobile is never shared or exposed. You can change where messages forward at any time from your dashboard.

What happens when I hit my SMS limit?

On Base and Build plans, you'll get a warning when you're approaching your limit. If you reach it, you can upgrade to the next plan for the remainder of that billing period — then drop back down next month if you like. No surprise charges. Boost plan customers approaching their limit will hear from us directly to work out the best arrangement.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No lock-in contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your dashboard and you won't be charged again. Your plan continues until the end of the period you've already paid for.

How hard is it to install?

One line of code. Copy it from your dashboard, paste it before the closing </body> tag on your website. Works on Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, and any custom site. Most people are live in under 5 minutes.

Is this compliant with Australian SMS regulations?

Yes. TapText uses Australian mobile numbers via Twilio's Australian infrastructure. All messages are SMS — not short codes or overseas routing. You're sending from a real AU mobile number your customers recognise.

Can customers call the TapText number?

The number is SMS-only. If someone calls it, they hear a message letting them know to send a text instead.

What is Missed Call Text-Back? (Build & Boost)

When someone calls your number and you can't answer — because you're on a job, with a customer, or your hands are full — TapText automatically texts them back within seconds. It introduces your business and asks what they need. They reply, the conversation lands in your inbox, and you deal with it when you're free. Works even if you use your own number on the side of the ute — you forward missed calls from your existing mobile to your TapText number with a single dial code, and it handles the rest.

What is AI Lead Capture? (Boost)

When a missed call reply comes in, AI Lead Capture reads the message and does three things: extracts the caller's name, classifies the job type (urgent repair, quote, general enquiry, or callback only), and drafts a suggested reply tailored to what they said. You see a briefing card in your inbox — who they are, what they need, how urgent it is — and a suggested reply you can send with one tap or edit first.
